Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of clearSeam.ai and any tools, files, or content made available through it. By accessing this site or downloading any tools, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
Plain language version: we built useful things and share them freely. Use them responsibly, keep your own credentials secure, don't hold us liable for your business decisions, and don't misrepresent our work as your own.
1. Who we are
clearSeam.ai is operated by clearSeam LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company that builds pricing tools, frameworks, and resources for software companies. We also provide consulting and advisory services.
2. Free tools
Tools available on clearSeam.ai are provided free of charge for personal and commercial use. By using or downloading a tool you agree to the following:
- Tools are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied
- You are responsible for any decisions made based on tool outputs
- clearSeam LLC is not liable for errors, inaccuracies, or business outcomes resulting from tool use
- You may use and modify tools for your own purposes but may not resell or redistribute them as your own product
3. Your data and API keys
clearSeam is built to keep your data with you, and clearSeam never stores your business data, pricing information, or competitive intelligence, or uses it for anything but producing your result. How your inputs travel depends on the tool:
- Browser tools (the calculators) run entirely in your browser. Anything you enter or upload stays in your browser session and is not sent to clearSeam
- Downloadable tools run on your own machine. If you connect your own AI provider, your API key and inputs go directly from your device to that provider (currently Anthropic), never through clearSeam
- Server-backed tools (such as Signal) run through a clearSeam server (hosted on Netlify) so you do not need your own API key. For these, your inputs are sent to that server and passed to the AI provider (currently Anthropic) to generate your result. They are processed in transit only: clearSeam uses them to produce that result and does not save them to any database, sell them, or otherwise use them
For the browser and downloadable tools, clearSeam operates no server in the path: your inputs and any API key travel directly between your device and the AI provider, and are never intercepted, cached, logged, or stored by clearSeam. For server-backed tools, your inputs pass through clearSeam's server (on our hosting provider, Netlify) only to reach the AI provider and return your result; they are not saved to any clearSeam database afterward.
Hosted or account-based products clearSeam may offer in the future are governed by their own separate data terms presented at sign-up.
Your responsibility for your own credentials: If a tool uses an API key, that key is yours and remains under your control at all times. You are solely responsible for keeping it secure, including not sharing, publishing, copying, or transmitting any file, folder, or project that contains it. clearSeam cannot access, monitor, or revoke your key. Any access, use, or charges arising from your key, including charges caused by a third party who obtains your key through any means, are your responsibility.
On API costs: Tools that ask you to connect your own API key require one from a third-party provider (currently Anthropic), and you are responsible for all costs incurred on that key. clearSeam has no visibility into, and no responsibility for, your API usage, billing, or any charges of any kind on your provider account. Server-backed tools like Signal run on clearSeam's own provider account at no cost to you.
4. Email and communications
If you submit your email through this site, any email address or basic setup information you provide is used solely to deliver the tool or content you requested, to route it through our infrastructure, and to send occasional product and feature updates, and for no other purpose. Email submissions are handled by third-party form providers: the newsletter signup uses Tally, and form submissions use Netlify. Your email is stored with those providers and with clearSeam. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email with "unsubscribe."
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, clearSeam LLC and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost revenue, lost profits, third-party API or service charges, or business decisions made based on content or tools provided through this site.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, clearSeam LLC's total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to the site or any free tool, under any theory of liability, will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid clearSeam LLC for the tool (which for free tools is zero) or fifty U.S. dollars ($50).
6. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless clearSeam LLC and its owners from any claims, losses, costs, or charges arising out of your use of the tools, your handling or exposure of your own API keys or credentials, or your violation of these terms.
7. Intellectual property
All content on clearSeam.ai, including copy, design, tools, and frameworks, is the property of clearSeam LLC. You may use downloaded tools for your own business purposes. You may not reproduce, resell, or represent clearSeam's tools or methodology as your own commercial product without written permission.
8. Consulting engagements
If you engage clearSeam LLC for paid consulting or advisory services, those engagements are governed by a separate services agreement signed at the start of the engagement. In the event of any conflict between these terms and a signed services agreement, the services agreement takes precedence.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them, the site, or the tools, are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any such dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. We would always prefer to resolve any concern directly, so please reach out to us first.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
